Post rainy season post!

NAIROBI—Greetings to all! We are just coming out of hibernation from the rainy season here in Nairobi and being faced with the “cold season” and of course we have a few bits of news to share.

In May we were featured on national television for Family Media’s segment on alternative green energy in Kenya. Founder and MD Kyle was interviewed in our shop in Kiambu town as well as a client who now has a Takamoto Biogas system. He walked us through his uses of the biogas (cooking and lighting), we met his pigs (the biogas machines), and visited his system now hidden by the massive squash plants growing in the biofertilizer.

Client Peter explains why he chose biogas and how it is helping him.

Esther explains system

Kiambu shopkeeper, Esther, describes biogas system (completely covered by crops. Peter wastes no space on his farm.)

After such an exciting day who would have thought that the next could beat it? Well thanks to a motorcycle and matatu collision we could say the two days nearly tied. But partly due to the unfortunate event, the Takamoto Biogas head office was moved to a great location with a yard perfect for running lots of biogas tests!

Cutting up vegetables

The future biogas concoction goes into the digester.

Since cutting up vegetables was so much fun, we found a summer intern Jacob (engineering student) from the states to engineer some better ways to do many things biogas related including setting up better systems to use the powerful biofertilizer to improve our clients’ farms. (Stay tuned for a post on his progress with that project!)

That’s all the news fit to post at the moment. Thanks for checking in with us! For more photos, check out our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/takamotobiogas
